Care for this western influence?

I read a article in Readers Digest recently of how thousands of elderly people in America are being fast-tracked to the pearly gates of St.Peters(literally) through the Nursing homes for the Elderly.
http://www.rd.com/content/openContent.do?contentId=31303

The worst part of it was the management of the Nursing homes rake in enormous profits by knowingly under/junk staffing and get away with mandatory rules and regulations in dubious wasys. Frankly America the land of plenty and freedom took a severe beating in my mind more than George Bush could ever have hoped to do with his Quixotic war for WMDs in Iraq

With our nation being so happy to embrace the practices of the West, I am just dreading for the day when news such as these become a common story back home. Iam not saying that we are living in an ideal world back home where the aged people are cared for like Gods. But atleast the majority of us still do take pride in caring for our parents and it is also a symbiotic relationship in most cases where our Parents form the guardians and pillars of strength for our children while we are away at work.

The ending note on that article says that the best chances for these old people are when children/relatives atleast come and keep a regular tab on their aged parents. And that brings us back to very Indian virtues of ensuring that we take care of our Parents (with the same love and affection they gave us) until they leave for their peacedful journey to the heavenly abode.

Take Pride in our culture and its virtues!!!

And the World lived happily ever after....

Mr. George Bush got up this morning, he has had a sudden change of heart. He calls up the directors of all the key national agencies, Gets the Nuclear missle defence scrapped(much to the dismay of the officers gathered), puts a firm cap on the arms related spending and sets a crystal clear roadmap for withdrawal of US troops from foreign soil all around the world. He proposes to pass on the benefits to US tax paying Citizens and Mankind in general!

Next he calls up a meeting of Saddam, Kim Jong(N.Korea), Iran and other world leaders and makes a speech more passionate than Independence Day(reel) or 9/11(real).

Enough is Enough. Countryment and Leaders of the World, Today I George Bush would want us all to think about our future, our childrens future. Would they have a safe world to stay, breathe and be happy after we are gone? Or Would they be forced to painful extinction as we throw ourselves to Stone ages with our Nuclear wars and mindless Arms spending?

I want you all to give a deep thought to this - with only you and your Conscience. Once you are done I want you to know that I have done my part already today before this meeting(lists out...). Dear Countrymen and Leaders of the world, I want you to stand shoulder to Shoulder with me in the new War - The War on Poverty, Malnutrition, Corruption, Inadequate Health care and Education. Together Let us ensure that we leave a better world TOMORROW for our Children. Let them forever remember that It was WE who did it TODAY.

There is absolute silence as the message sinks in. Then it is followed by a thuderous applause. Saddam gets up and says 'Mr. Bush, I now realize I had been a bad dictator even If there were no nuclear weapons found. Give me one last chance and I will show my people lasting joy. Kim Jong gets up 'I now realize that most of my countrymen suffer for basic needs while our huge army is armed to teeth and restless to get on to another meaningless mission. Then the Iran leader gets up 'Even Allah would have approved of this profound message. We have so many enemies on the new WAR as my new Friend Bush mentioned. It is time for a Jihad on the real enemies of mankind. Let us take a solemn pledge to sink all our differences, ideologies and work as ONE.

The message is telecast live the World over, There are huge processions, balloons and festivities in the air as the entire World celebrates this event. The New Year celebrations have started early and the sound of young childrens laughter rents the air as the World suddenly becomes a better place to live !!!

Ring................ Thats my phone ringing as a rude reminder that I have been sleeping too much for the weekend. Oh...oh Hello and what a Great dream I had !!! Wish it were true.
